Pictures of Peoples

Here are some folks I have met whilst in Ho Chi Minh City, aka HCMC, aka Saigon, aka Sai Gon...

Below is Darren (brother of Tony Power from Berlin) and on the right, Mahon. Two Irish folks who've been living in Saigon for a long time. Had lovely meals and fishing trips with them. Very hospitable!

Below is Mahon (again), May, and Mahon's girlfriend Thuy (pronounced Twee) on our little platform during our fishing trip inside Saigon. Here is a list of the first words that popped into my head when we arrived at the "fishing" spot: Filthy. Fetid. Putrid. Utterly. Lovely.

Another of the Expat group, Scotty (and me) on our fishing trip.

And the last of this group, Thuy and Darren before our fishing trip. No fish were caught, by the way.

Here is the back of me and an American gal named Sarah. She's been travelling South-East Asia for the last 3 and half years. We are at the revolution museum. It was a little limp, to be honest...

And here is me attentively listening to the propaganda speech inside the Reunification Palace (which is a lovely building to visit for the 1960's time-capsule interior decor.)

Another couple of pictures of me at the War Remnants Museum (which I remember being called the War Crimes Museum 12 years ago).

Me shooting and M-60 machine gun at the Cu Chi Tunnels site. More touristy crap. None of these museums are recommended, to be honest. They are rammed full of tourists and ultimately the payoff is very small compared to the task of going from start to finish...I can only imagine how many of the below picture exist on people's hard drives around the globe. I'm just another sheep..baaaaaa

Here is Sarah again, and Justyna, a Polish gal we met up with. We are at the Women's Museum, which was almost the best museum so far. It was full of traditional weaving equipment and examples of all the different ethnic groups patterns and so forth. We didn't get to see the whole museum as it closed for lunch, so we missed the warrior women segment. Too bad.

And that is that for now!
