Outside Da Nang: Marble Mountain

While at Jungle Beach, I met an Austrian woman named Margot. We had both (separately) planned on going to Hoi An and Hue on the same day and so decided to travel together for a few days.

We took the train from Nha Trang up to Da Nang (quite comfortable overnight berths for only $21.00) and then a motorcycle taxi 30km south to China Beach, beside a large hill called Marble Mountain.

Marble Mountain is a Buddhist monastery/sanctuary with several pagodas and caves with statues carved into the walls. The hill is made of marble and the little town below is famous for is Marble Statues made from rock taken directly from the mountain.

Below are several photos of some of the caves and the vistas and views from two different high points.

*For best viewing experience of the Panorama photo at the end of this post, right-click on the photo and "open in new tab". When you are on that tab, zoom into the photo by clicking on it, and use the scroll bar to get the 360° vista effect. And also another thing to note: ALL of the photos on this blog are very large and can be viewed at full resolution by doing the "right-click, open in new tab, zoom in" process!

(Nice hat on me, below)

And here is the big 360° panorama picture!
